About us

Children's Medical Center Dallas is one of the largest pediatric providers in the nation and is ranked one of the top 25 pediatric hospitals in the country by U.S.News and World Report. As the primary pediatric teaching facility for UT Southwestern, Children's is the only academic hospital in North Texas dedicated exclusively to the comprehensive care of children from birth to age 18. Private and not-for-profit, Children's is licensed for 559 beds, has more than 50 pediatric specialty ambulatory programs and is the first pediatric hospital in Texas with a designated Level I trauma center.

Our team

Be the One to join a team of highly trained nurses and clinical staff. Our nursing team consists of more than 1,200 talented RNs. Our 110 advanced practice nurses are nationally recognized clinical experts in teaching, research and consultation within nursing. Nurse practitioners, physicians' assistants, clinical nurse specialists, clinical nutritionists and psychologists are key members of the provider team at Children's. All are involved in providing direct care in inpatient and ambulatory settings. In addition, department-based respiratory care practitioners, social workers, chaplains, child life specialists and clinical technicians provide support 24/7.

Reaching new heights

Be the One to turn a job into a career at Children's. Employees at Children's can explore many new paths with a multiplicity of specialty areas and roles, a clinical ladder, support for continuing education and advanced certification. We provide a tuition reimbursement program to support employees pursuing advanced degrees and continuing education. In addition, we offer on-site continuing eduction and professional development classes ranging from in services on new equipment to PALS certification.

To help support your career, units at Children's are organized around diagnostic groups. By changing units, you may change your career without ever leaving the hospital or losing the benefits you have earned. Most units have self-scheduling and shared governance available.

Leading edge research

Be the One to translate leading-edge research to the bedside through our affiliation with The University of Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. As the primary teaching hospital for UT Southwestern, Children's provides the hospital and outpatient offices for training future pediatricians and pediatric specialists. In fact, approximately 50 percent of the region's pediatricians and pediatric specialists were trained at Children's. Children's also has the responsibility of providing training for other healthcare professionals, including nurses, respiratory care practitioners, pharmacists, child life specialists and hospital chaplains. Through mentoring, continuing education and research opportunities, the Children's culture keeps its focus on finding new ways to make life better for children.
