At Children's Medical CenterThe best and brightest undergraduate nursing students are selected for the Children's May Smith Scholars program, named in honor of the nurse who began the open-air clinic for infants that became Children's Medical Center. College juniors and seniors work as nurse externs for 400 hours during their undergraduate program and receive $2,500 per semester or $5,000 per year toward their education. After graduation, Children's offers them a position in one of the hospital's internship tracks: Critical Care, Emergency, General Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical, Hematology-oncology or Perioperative Services.
This scholarship provides practical clinical experience and financial assistance for Tier I students interested in pediatric nursing.
