The Pediatric Asthma seminar is an annual round-table seminar designed to highlight key issues in pediatric respiratory care for healthcare professionals including, but not limited to, respiratory therapists and nurses. This annual seminar will discuss and review current research and key issues including:
- Basic pathophysiology of asthma and management strategies of acute status asthmaticus
- Use of non-invasive ventilation in pediatric asthma
- Advanced management strategies including mechanical ventilation and use of helium-oxygen gas mixtures for status asthmaticus
- Air quality and air pollution/ozone levels in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and the impact on pediatric asthma
- Review the pathophysiology of influenza and the implications in asthma patients
- Air Quality Flag Program
- Asthma Educator Certification and the benefit of this certification
- Peak Performance USA program and the impact for school nurses and teachers who treat school age asthmatics
- Patient perspective of how asthma impacts everyday life
