Experience:

Participated on the Advisory Committee for LEAN Families during program design.
Active in educating physicians and members of the community on obesity prevention and treatment
Developed a parent and childcare worker educational workshop on fitness and nutrition for preschool-aged children in cooperation with KERA Unlimited, the local public television network.
Practiced general pediatrics in a community medicine setting in Dallas from 1997 to 2005, leading a team of seven physicians as lead pediatrician in the group.
Community faculty member at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.
Taught resident pediatricians weekly in a clinic environment for 7 years and served as general pediatric attending physician on teaching service at Children's Medical Center annually.
Started Parkland Health & Hospital System's Reach Out and Read early literacy promotion program which eventually grew to distribute more than 30,000 books to preschool children in pediatric clinics throughout Dallas County on an annual basis.
Developed program experience as co-leader of Babies First! In Dallas: A Healthy Steps Approach, a program created to support high risk mothers in areas of child development, safety and nutrition.
