Children's Medical Center's 2011 Holiday Parade Signs Pizza Hut as Co-Presenting Sponsor

September 28, 2011

While the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area was enduring triple digit heat, it was snowing recently while 400 employees of Plano-based Pizza Hut hoisted red balloons, all in celebration of their new $1 million, multi-year relationship with Children's Medical Center. Their relationship establishes an employee volunteer program and secures Pizza Hut's position as a co-presenting sponsor in the hospital's 23-year, award-winning tradition, the Children's Medical Center Holiday Parade.

The 2011 parade, now co-presented with Capital One Bank, is an annual holiday event for hundreds of thousands of families. It will take place on Dec. 3 in Downtown Dallas and include full-scale musical performances, giant inflatable balloons, high-stepping marching bands and dazzling decorated floats — all airing live on Dallas' ABC affiliate, WFAA-TV. Additionally, more than 350 television stations in 159 markets will air the parade in syndication throughout the holiday season.

The parade specifically benefits the Child Life Department at Children's whose experts provide age-appropriate therapies to help children cope with their hospital stay through diagnosis-specific education, therapeutic and bedside activities and medical play. Child Life's services are not covered by insurance and rely upon philanthropy for many of their activities.

"Pizza Hut is all about families," said Brian Niccol, U.S. general manager for Pizza Hut. "Children's is a lifeline for families who need medical care for their children. Like me, many of our employees have had personal experiences with Children's. The partnership is a perfect fit for us as we live and work in the same community Children's operates."

"We are thrilled to welcome Pizza Hut as our newest corporate partner," Pete Kline, president of the Children's Medical Center Foundation said. "There are so many ways the company and Pizza Hut's employees can impact our hospital and the children we serve. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship."

Tickets for this year's parade go on sale October 3. For more information about the Children's Medical Center Holiday Parade, including downloadable photos, visit www.childrens.com/parade.
