The Center for Obesity and its Consequences in Health (COACH): What We Treat

The Center for Obesity and its Consequences in Health (COACH) provides comprehensive care and education for children with obesity and its associated medical issues, which can include:

  • Impaired glucose tolerance
  • Insulin resistance
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Fatty liver
  • High cholesterol
  • Hypertension
  • Sleep apnea

Criteria for eligibility:

  • A body mass index above the 95th percentile
  • Age 5-17 years
  • At least one parent or caregiver who can participate in the program with the child
  • Primary care physician exam and clearance for physical activity

If interested, speak with your doctor. If they would like to make a referral, ask them to fax the following information to

  • Demographic information and insurance card
  • Current weight, height and BMI (growth chart)
  • Recent clinic visit notes
  • Recent labs
