Respiratory Care: Why Children's?
- We offer a wide variety of services utilizing experts in pediatric respiratory care. Areas of expertise include care of patients with neuromuscular diseases, cystic fibrosis, asthma management and chronic lung disease.
- Our staff consists of Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT), many of whom hold advanced specialty certifications such as Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS), Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C), Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT, RPFT).
- We provide American Heart Association Friends and Family CPR training for families with children who are at high risk of facing a life-threatening event.

Description of services:
Patient services are available to inpatients, day surgery and outpatients. Services are provided by the therapist upon order from the physician. These services include, but are not limited to:
- Medical gas therapy including nitric oxide, heliox and sub-ambient therapies
- Aerosol drug administration
- Bronchial hygiene procedures
- Non-invasive oxygen and carbon dioxide monitoring
- Conventional mechanical ventilator support and care
- High-frequency oscillatory ventilation support and care
- Jet ventilation support and care
Special diagnostic services (bedsides PFT’s):
- Pediatric bronchoscopy service support
- Home care education and training including respiratory therapy, ventilator care, tracheostomy care, asthma management and CPR training
- Participation in emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Training and education in respiratory care for respiratory therapists, physicians, nurses and student respiratory therapists
- Integral part in the ongoing development of respiratory care programs through the El Centro, Midwestern State University and Collin County Community College Respiratory Care Program Advisory Boards
- Provide consultative services for physicians by respiratory therapists
- Support respiratory-related research activities
- Participation in the VOSS (Ventilation-Oxygenation Support Systems) Forum
- Pediatric asthma education and care coordination
