What are Abdominal & Pelvic Tumors?
Abdominal tumors occur in many different forms in children because of the many organs present in the abdomen. The most common abdominal tumors in children are neuroblastoma (usually from the adrenal glands or nerve tissue in the back of the abdomen), Wilms tumor (from the kidney), and hepatoblastoma (from the liver).
There are many other tumors that can arise in different parts of the abdomen. Generally, treatment of tumors in the abdomen require some combination of biopsy, resection, chemotherapy and/or radiation.
