ANCC Magnet Recognition
Highest National Recognition Granted to a Hospital or Medical Center for Excellence in Nursing
Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Children’s Medical Center Plano are designated as a Magnet organization by the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®. Only 10% of U.S. hospitals are Magnet-designated, and only 3% of U.S. hospitals have maintained Magnet through four consecutive appraisal cycles. Recognizing quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practices, designation as a Magnet organization is the highest national recognition granted to a hospital or medical center for excellence in nursing. Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Children’s Medical Center Plano have proudly received the system’s fourth Magnet designation, maintained since 2009.

Ranked No. 2 in the health care category
Children's Health was named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies List of 2024, recognizing our work with the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute to launch a transformative behavioral health program. The program trains primary care clinicians to diagnose and treat mental health conditions. In 2024, Children’s Health was named a Healthy People 2030 Champion by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The Healthy People 2030 Champion Program addresses our nation’s health priorities, including health disparities and health equity. Healthy People 2030 Champions support the Healthy People 2030 vision to help all people achieve their full potential for health and well-being across the lifespan.

Recognized as a Top Workplace in DFW nine times
The Dallas Morning News and Medium Giant’s Top Workplaces D-FW has recognized and celebrated businesses that are at the top of their game and making North Texas a better place to work for 15 years. Children’s Health has been recognized as a Top Workplace nine times, with consecutive annual wins since 2020.
USA Today Top Workplaces USA
The USA Today Top Workplaces USA awards honor the top midsize and large organizations across the country. In 2024, outstanding team member feedback about the culture at Children’s Health secured our organization the top position of 42 listed hospitals and health systems across the country. Children’s Health was also named the best employer in Texas out of 172 companies in all industries by USA Today.

Dallas Regional Chamber Best Place for Working Parents
Plus, the Dallas Innovator Award
Best Place for Working Parents™ Dallas is presented by the Dallas Regional Chamber and PNC Bank. Launched in 2021, the initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of family-friendly benefits and policies for employers and workers. Children’s Health has maintained the designation since 2022 by offering family-friendly benefits including parental leave, childcare assistance and backup childcare support.
In 2022, Children’s Health also received the exclusive Best Place for Working Parents in Dallas Innovator Award, recognizing our exceptional commitment to family-friendly practices in the workplace.

Research Leader in employee engagement
In 2024, Children’s Health was recognized as an Exceptional Workplace by Gallup for the third year in a row. Gallup has been a research leader in employee engagement for over 50 years and partners with over 1,000 organizations around the world. Less than 5% of Gallup's clients are recognized with this honor.
InformationWeek Elite 100
The Only Health System in Texas to Make the List
Children’s Health was once again named to the InformationWeek Elite 100 in 2016. We are the only health system in Texas to make the list. This prestigious award recognizes the nation’s most innovative users of information technology.
National Cancer Institute’s NCI-Designated Cancer Center
The Only NCI- Designated Cancer Center in North Texas
Physicians at the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Health are engaged in a wide range of clinical research efforts spanning the cancer and blood disease programs. Clinical research efforts are supported by robust infrastructure provided by the Clinical Research Office (CRO) within the Gill Center and the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern, the only NCI- designated cancer center in North Texas. The NCI-Designated Cancer Centers program recognizes centers around the country that meet rigorous criteria for world-class, state-of-the-art programs in multidisciplinary cancer research that will lead to better approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition
One of the First Organizations in the Nation to be Recognized as a Level 3
The original six Pediatric Group locations received Level 3 NCQA PCMH Recognition for using evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care and long‐term, participative relationships. Children’s was one of the first organizations in the nation to be recognized as a Level 3 under the NCQA’s newest guidelines.
Most Wired
Only Health System in Texas Named to the List
In 2016, Children’s Health was named to Hospitals & Health Networks Most Wired for the tenth time in the last 12 years. Most Wired recognizes information technology adoption in U.S. hospitals and health systems. For the second year in a row, Children’s Health achieved Most Wired “advanced” status. Children’s Health is the only health system in Texas named to the list.
HIMSS Stage 7
First Hospital in Texas to Reach Stage 7
Since 2005, HIMSS Analytics has tracked the adoption of EMR applications within hospitals and health systems across the U.S. Hospitals work to complete each stage of adoption, with the ultimate goal of reaching a Stage 7. Children’s Medical Center Dallas was the first hospital in Texas to reach Stage 7. As a Stage 7 health care organization, Children’s Medical Center Dallas is recognized for delivering patient data in a way that ultimately improves process performance, quality of care and patient safety.
SECURETexas Certification
First Hospital in Texas to Receive SECURETexas Certification
Children’s Health is SECURETexas certified, which means that our organization meets both state and federal privacy and security regulations. SECURETexas certification is granted by the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA) and the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), and in 2014, Children’s Health was the first hospital in Texas to receive SECURETexas certification. As a SECURETexas organization, we are recognized as a health care leader demonstrating our commitment to protect the privacy of our patients’ health care information.
Greenest Hospitals in America
One Fourth of Electricity Use is Backed by Renewable Energy Credits
In 2018, Becker’s Hospital Reviews recognized Children’s Health as one of the top 50 greenest hospitals in America. As of July 2016, one fourth of electricity use is backed by renewable energy credits, equivalent to removing more than 16 million pounds per year of carbon dioxide from nature
Becker’s Hospital Review recognized the Children’s Health Virtual Health and Innovation program as one of the 50 hospitals with innovation programs due to the goal to invest and partner with companies, technologies and organizations on care delivery.
Greenhealth Partner for Change Award
Recognized for efforts in environmental sustainability
In 2023, Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Children’s Medical Center Plano received the Greenhealth Partner for Change Award for superior performance in environmental sustainability, covering a range of different sustainability programs, progress on mercury elimination and more.
Most Social Media Friendly Children’s Hospitals
Finding new ways to connect with families
Children’s Health was named as one of the most social media friendly children’s hospitals in the country. The award recognizes Children’s Health’s use of social media to help connect families and share the important work happening here.
Dallas PICU and NICU awarded Silver Beacon for nursing excellence
Silver Beacon is awarded by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses for exceptional care in a healthy work environment. In 2024 the Dallas PICU and NICU both earned this emblem of excellence.
