A pilomatrixoma is a benign (non-cancerous) swelling of the hair follicle. They usually present as a hard lump just beneath the skin. The majority of these masses are located on the head or neck.

These small tumors usually do not cause symptoms but can become tender or painful when they are infected.
How is a pediatric pilomatrixoma treated?
Even though these tumors are benign, they will not go away on their own and surgical resection is recommended.
