World-class pediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons

Our team includes UT Southwestern doctors who are recognized for being among the best in their fields and have expertise in the latest, most effective treatments. These doctors also help train the next generation of neurologists and neurosurgeons. We are home to one of only eight programs in the country that trains pediatric neurology residents in treating neurodevelopmental conditions like autism. This ensures we’re always up to date on the latest research and treatments.

How a multidisciplinary approach helps children

Many children with neurological disorders need care from both neurologists and neurosurgeons. At Children’s Health, these different specialists work hand-in-hand to diagnose and treat your child, all under one roof. This enables us to evaluate each child from every angle, trade ideas and select the treatment and/or surgery that offers the best opportunity for a good outcome. You won’t have to travel to two different locations, or worry about communicating messages from one type of doctor to another.

Our neurologists and neurosurgeons don’t just work closely with each other – they also collaborate with doctors in other departments to help them evaluate and treat patients. For example, we regularly collaborate with doctors and other providers in the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities and in the Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics program.

Our multidisciplinary care includes:

  • Advanced epilepsy treatment and monitoring. Our epilepsy care includes nationally recognized epilepsy centers in multiple locations to suit your specific needs.
  • State-of-the-art care for movement disorders. Our unique pediatric neurology expertise enables us to offer the region’s most comprehensive care for movement disorders. This care includes a wide variety of treatment and approaches that help children restore natural movement and get back to the activities they love.
  • Expert concussion diagnosis and treatment. Our neurologists collaborate closely with the Children’s Health concussion program. This program quickly diagnoses concussions in children, and guides them through care that helps them get back to school and sports as quickly – and safely – as possible.
  • Renowned pediatric neurosurgery expertise. The UT Southwestern doctors practicing at Children’s Health are among the world’s top experts in pediatric neurosurgery. Our surgeons offer innovative care for everything from epilepsy to stroke to brain tumors. We helped develop many of the latest innovations and techniques, and our outcomes are among the best in the world.

The doctors at Children’s Health are deeply involved in global clinical trials and research. We don’t rely on the old ways of doing things. We help pioneer new and better methods for treating pediatric neurological disorders.

We offer more clinical trials and experimental medications for neurological disorders than almost any center in our region..

  • Child Life Program, to help children and families understand their disorder and treatment

  • Transition to adult care, for when your child outgrows pediatric care and moves into adulthood
