Biography
Mai Tran, M.D., is a pediatrician at Children’s Health℠ who specializes in caring for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Tran is board-certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She provides well-child visits, treats patients experiencing acute illness and works with patients and families to best manage chronic conditions. She is passionate about educating and supporting appropriate nutrition in kids and helping them remain healthy through good dietary choices and an active lifestyle. “I enjoy spending time with my patients and always strive to provide the best care and experience,” says Dr. Tran.

Dr. Tran received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Sciences from Baylor University, graduating magna cum laude. She went on to earn her medical degree from Texas A&M Health Sciences Center in College Station, Texas. She completed her pediatric residency training at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Dr. Tran is certified in Basic Life Support. She is the recipient of the American Academy of Pediatrics Resident CATCH Grant: “Anticipatory Guidance: 0-3 Year Olds” and the American Academy of Pediatrics Healthy Active Living Grant. She has presented on “B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Presenting with Toxic Shock Syndrome and Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis." Dr. Tran has also served on several community committees, including Our Lady of the Lake Advocacy Committee and the Pediatric Obesity Workgroup Committee.
When Dr. Tran was very young, she had positive experiences with healthcare providers that influenced her professional interests and passions. “I always knew I wanted to work with kids in some capacity within the medical field. I studied nutrition in college, so naturally, the role of a pediatrician easily combined those two passions.”
Dr. Tran is fluent in Vietnamese. During her free time, she loves to garden and feels everyone should get time outdoors every day. Her favorite holiday is Christmas. “I have too many decorations and no plans to remedy that problem.” She also enjoys traveling and cooking.
