Operating Room/Sterile Processing Department Student Rotations
Our mission is to be a health care team that works together to provide surgical care for children while promoting comfort and trust for their family that they are in skilled compassionate hands.
The Main O.R. is a surgical suite consisting of 18 operating rooms. Surgeons perform a yearly average of 1.2 million surgical minutes and 25,000 cases ranging from ear tubes to open heart surgery, to heart and liver transplants.
Our students are assigned to work with a preceptor in each surgical services rotation. Currently we can provide students access to all surgical services (excluding cardiac). Students generally work on the day shift.
Our sterile processing department provides student experiences in all phases of decontamination, sterilization and assembly of surgical equipment. Students in this department can work on day or evening shifts at the discretion of the SPD manager.
