The Children’s Health℠ Sickle Cell Disease Program cares for approximately 900 children annually with various forms of sickle cell disease. Patients have access to our comprehensive and multidisciplinary clinics on both the Dallas and Plano campuses led by specialists from the UT Southwestern Pediatric Group. From the beginning, the team has been dedicated to the development of innovative treatment approaches. UT Southwestern was recently named as the lead site for the newly created North Texas Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Trial Unit (ASH Collaborative), a sickle cell disease clinical trials network aimed at bringing new therapies to individuals with sickle cell disease.
In this podcast, Lincy Thomas, M.D., Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at Children’s Health and Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern, discusses how the team provides comprehensive care, the types of treatments used for patients and what sets the program apart.
