Images of hope. Words of strength. - Eating disorders program
Did you know that an estimated 30 million Americans suffer from an eating disorder? National surveys estimate that 20 million women and 10 million men in America will have an eating disorder at some point in their lives*.
Each year on average, more than 185 young people find hope and healing at our Center for Pediatric Eating Disorders at Children’s Health Specialty Center Plano. Children and teens suffering from an eating disorder may sometimes feel like they are all alone in dealing with the feelings that they are experiencing. Here, they are supported by their family and a passionate clinical staff, dedicated to treating and caring for the whole child, not just their eating disorder.
When our patients and families arrive, they are given artwork and letters - images of hope and words of strength, all unique messages of encouragement from patients and their families who have participated in the program. In honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, we’d like to share some of those messages with you to show that no one dealing with an eating disorder is ever alone.
